Christmas Break...
It’s nice to be done for the semester. I think I read 20 or so books and at least 70 journal articles. Next semester I’m going to take one less class, which should be good. I was so rushed this Fall that I honestly don’t remember much that happened.
I am glad it’s the Christmas season. I love celebrating the incarnation. Advent is great because it allows us to focus on the first coming while also celebrating the second coming. It does a good job holding the eschatological tension that characterizes the age between the first and second advents. Think about it: the one who was promised to crush the serpent’s head came as a baby, defeated death as a man and is coming back as the conquering king who will restore and renew everything. Wow.
