Getting on the right track

When I started out this summer, I was pushing 200 pounds, which is awful considering I have a medium frame. So after nearly three years, I gave in to my good friend Shaun, and started Body For Life. It is not a diet. It is a smarter way of eating. Six small meals, balancing carbs (whole grains) with protein, and reducing fat. By the time you eat the next meal, you're really hungry, and you're eating in a more balanced fashion.

There is also a good list of exercises to do. I'm sad to say I've not followed it as well as I should. We have stopped eating fast food and junk food. I've been feeling better and it's nice to wear smaller clothes.

Well, we started it in mid-June and I'm happy to report that I'm down to almost 180. I think I was like 182 this morning.

I don't really have a goal, except to be fit and in shape. I think it's a shame to be overweight when there is no real good reason for it. Gaining weight because I'm married is a lame excuse.

Yeah, the Spencers got me doing Body for Life there for awhile, too. It's a good system, and the recipes are tasty. The problem I had with it was eating so much all the time. I basically had to schedule my day around when I would be eating next. I found that hard to manage with being in classes all day. The other problem with it was Blake was kindly doing most of the meal prep for me and it took a long time. I ended up joining Jenny Craig. I lost about 35 pounds (215 to 180) in six months, and I was definitely not following that plan to the letter. It was expensive but pretty easy and only involved eating at normal meal times with reasonable snacks in between. Congratulations on your success with BfL.

I've found it easier to do because of protein shakes and whatnot. If it weren't for that...who knows....
I will say this, Shaun is so good at explaining BfL that he could be a good door to door mormon. It's a good thing he's on our side!

ha!

Bobby,

I went down from 200 to 160 over the course of about ten months. I did it by just watching what I ate. No sodas, watched the carbs, watched the greasy food. And I often walked a couple miles every night.

And, I stopped eating when I had enough. It took ten months, but I lost it consistently, just by making a conscious effort to watch what I ate.
