May 3, 1999

That was six years ago and I remember driving to a church meeting on I-35 from Norman through Moore, to Oklahoma City.

Below is what missed me by about 20 minutes, and what missed my parents in the Bridge Creek/Tuttle area by only a few less than that.

Amazing.....

That is just amazing, Bobby. I've seen a couple of documentaries on that tornado, and I always forget to ask you how you and your family managed to miss it.

Whew. That thing was just incredible. The only footage I've seen of a tornado worse than that was the F5 that wiped Jarrell, TX clean. Hiding in a basement as the only means of surviving a monster like that is a frightening thing to contemplate.

I've (fortunately) only ever seen tiny ones with my eyes. But I can't count the times my sister and I were hustled to the bathtub with a mattress over our heads to wait out a storm.

Ah, Oklahoma.

I watched both the 1999 and 2003 Moore, Oklahoma tornadoes on tv.

In 1999, I was in Durant, OK at my Pastor's house. We were having severe weather that day too.

Channel 9 news out of Ok City provided excellent helicopter coverage.
